What will be included in the upgrade work?
Will the tennis club and tennis players benefit from the upgrade?
Tennis enthusiasts will benefit from the improved safety and vehicular access at the site entry, additional carparking, better connectivity with pathways across the site, and a layout that will improve drainage and resilience to flooding.
Why is Council building a new clubhouse at Charlie Buckler?
The existing shared rugby union and cricket clubhouse is over 40 years old, does not meet sport-specific requirements for cricket or rugby union, and does not have flexibility for usage by other community groups. The new clubhouse will meet sport-specific requirements at a value level, with a flexible design so other community groups can use the space.
How will the fields change?
The fields will be slightly reconfigured to provide better drainage on the site and to meet requirements related to the position of the new clubhouse. There will still be a full sized rugby field, a smaller training field, and a full sized cricket field with the pitch between the two rugby fields.
Will there be more car parking?
Yes, an additional 81 car parks will be built to provide a total of 147 car parking spaces on the site.
What are the hours of work?
The contractor has approval to work between the hours of 7am and 6pm on weekdays. Start and finish times may vary daily and are dependent upon the work being undertaken and weather conditions. The project is expected to be completed in mid-2024.
How will the works affect traffic along Boundary Street?
When upgrading the site entry on Boundary Street, the parking lane will be closed and the through lane will have a reduced speed limit. These works are expected to take around one week to complete.
At all other times, project plant and delivery traffic may be entering and leaving the site, with the impacts on traffic expected to be minimal.
How will tennis court users access the site while works are being carried out?
Throughout works, pedestrian access to the site will remain open via Boundary Street.
On-street car parking is allowed on Boundary Street and in nearby side streets. Site users are requested to be respectful when choosing an on-street car park, not parking over residential driveways and remembering to leave at least two metres between their cars and any bins that have been left out for collection.
In addition to on-street parking, the contractor will endeavour to provide access to a portion of the on-site rear car park when safe and practical.
Will on-site car parking be available while works are being carried out?
With the exception of a number of disabled car parking spaces near the tennis courts, the on-site car park will be closed throughout works or until the car park upgrade is complete.
While the car park is closed, the contractor will provide space for car parking on the fields.

Will the pathway along the rear of the site remain open during works?
Yes, the pathway that runs from Terrier Court along the rear of the site and connects with the bridge that links to Carolyn Place will remain safely open for use by pedestrians and cyclists throughout works.
What facilities are being removed during the upgrade?
To provide room for the larger clubhouse, additional parking and field reconfiguration (to improve drainage), the BMX track and half basketball court will need to be removed.
