At its General Meeting on 15 October 2025, Redland City Council resolved to withdraw the proposed amendment.

At the same meeting Council also resolved to withdraw 03/23 Major Amendment - Secondary Dwellings and 05/23 – Major Amendment – Dual Occupancies in the Low Density Residential Zone.

Relevant information from the withdrawn amendments has been incorporated into two new consolidated amendments:

  • 02/25 – Major Amendment – Residential - including new provisions for secondary dwellings, dual occupancies, residential built form and zone changes.
  • 03/25 – Major Amendment – Non-Residential - including new provisions for various uses, centre planning, mixed-use development, lot reconfiguration and zone changes

The decision to withdraw the original three (3) amendments and prepare two (2) new consolidated amendments was made to better reflect current planning priorities, including the opportunity to incorporate parts of the State’s Redland Housing Strategy 2024–2046 and other policy changes that have occurred in the two and a half years since the original amendment was initially submitted for State Interest review.

Council is seeking to progress the two new amendments through a streamlined process under section 18 of the Planning Act 2016 as most of the changes have already been supported by the State Government or are reflected in the Redlands Housing Strategy.
