FAQs
Why does Council need a Community Safety Action Plan?
Council needs a Community Safety Action Plan to help ensure everyone feels safe on Redlands Coast where they live, work and play. The plan supports Council, the police, services, and the community to work together to prevent crime, enhance perceptions of safety, and respond to local issues. Plans of this type are common across councils, helping local governments take a coordinated and proactive approach to community safety.
What will the plan do?
The plan will outline a framework for Council’s community safety programs and initiatives into the future. It presents a vision and priorities for improving community safety on Redlands Coast, along with the actions and approach we will take to achieve them.
What type of topics will the plan cover?
Council provides a range of community safety services including public space safety and design, CCTV security cameras, and providing community safety education. This plan will describe how Council will deliver these services, work together with partners, and advocate for outcomes that create a safe, connected, and welcoming community.
How will the community help shape the plan?
Community feedback helped shape the first draft of this plan through our engagement program. Now community can have a say on the Draft. Ongoing engagement will ensure the plan reflects the needs and aspirations of our community.
What will happen to my feedback?
All feedback received during the draft plan consultation period will be considered before the plan is adopted by Council. Community feedback will be formally captured and analysed to provide an unbiased input into the process.
How will the plan benefit me and my community?
This Action Plan aims to improve safety actions, infrastructure, and overall community well-being. By aligning our actions with community needs, we aim to create a more safe, liveable, and vibrant community.
