Consultation has concluded

Community and user groups are invited to join in early planning for recreational and land use upgrades to the Eastern Escarpment Conservation Area fronting West Mount, Cotton Road, Sheldon.

While ensuring the protection of environmental land values, the Reserve offers the opportunity to meet current and future recreational demands and development of exciting and challenging new recreational trails for all users, including bushwalkers, horse riders, cyclists and orienteers.

The draft plan concept will provide:

  • Preserved heritage and environmental values
  • Better user experiences (better loops, links, parking, access, and maps)
  • Mountain biking downhill trails
  • Shared use ‘contour trails’ for walkers and mountain bikers
  • Multi-use fire trails suitable for horses, mountain bikers and walkers
  • Improved fire management
  • User access and management

Our aim is to work with trail design consultants, key stakeholders, neighbours, and user groups to create exciting and challenging new recreational trails. The Eastern Escarpment trails will provide a new level of user experience and challenges that will compliment popular trails areas at Bayview and Redland Track Park Reserves.
