November 2025 Update – Council Seeks Update from State Government

At its General Meeting of 15 October 2025, Council considered a report relating to this amendment.

The report noted that no response had been received from the State Government in relation to the pause notice issued by Council in September 2022.

Additionally, this amendment was drafted in response to the Ministerial Direction of 2021 that required Council to amend its planning scheme to align with TLPI No. 02 of 2020 Quandamooka Land Aspirations Area (TLPI 02/2020). TLPI 02/2020 lapsed after two years and was replaced with TLPI 01/2022. TLPI 01/2022 also lapsed and was replaced with TLPI 01/2023. In September 2025, the State Government advised Council of its decision not to remake TLPI 01/2023. It lapsed on 13 September 2025 and no longer has effect.

With no response to the pause notice and a TLPI no longer in effect, Council resolved to write to the Deputy Premier, Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning, and Minister for Industrial Relations requesting:

  • A formal response to the pause notice issued by Council in September 2022.
  • Advice on whether the Ministerial Direction requiring Council to prepare and progress the amendment will be withdrawn.

This letter was issued to the Deputy Premier on 4 November 2025.
