July Update
Council has consulted about upgrading Raby Esplanade Park, Ormiston including park embellishments and installing a public toilet.
Council invited residents within a 400-500m walkable catchment from the Park, to have their say on the prioritisation of future parks embellishments and three possible locations for the public toilet, including its internal and external finishes, to assist with the final design and works schedule.
Results from the community feedback, which closed on Sunday 7 July 2019, have now been analysed and show the following:
· Almost half or 48% of all survey respondents preferred the central location (6C) for the new public toilet location
· Over half or 54% of all survey respondents preferred ’Neutral’ (i.e. Dune and Wallaby) for the external toilet colouring
· Over half or 68% of all survey respondents preferred ’Custom’ finish (i.e. Custom finish: Walls – Aluminium composite sheeting, sharps bin. Colorbond – Surfmist)
· The top five prioritised park embellishments were: (i.e. 1 being the most important):
- Beach nourishment
- Shade trees
- Playground renewal / upgrade
- Turf improvements
- BBQ / picnic facilities
· Other parks embellishment in order of priority were: cyclist’s redirection/ footpath connection; the learn-to-ride circuit; additional parking – along Raby Esplanade; additional exercise equipment, multi goal posts.
Taking into consideration this community feedback, Council will now proceed to finalise the design of Raby Esplanade Park upgrades with staged works to commence from this financial year. Staged works in future years will remain subject to detailed design, budget prioritisation and Council approval.
Thank you to participants for having your say.
