Consultation has concluded
Tourism opportunity for not-for-profit or community organisation
Council is pleased to make a selection of sites available for the establishment of a basic camping ground, catering for the growing self-contained recreational vehicle (RV) and caravan markets.
Expressions of Interest (EOI) are sought from not-for-profit or community organisations with experience or capabilities in operating facilities such as these.
Basic camping grounds preserve the appeal and amenity of a location, while offering the limited facilities required by the self-contained recreational vehicle and caravan markets. Basic camping grounds:
are strictly limited to self-contained RVs and caravans (with their own toilets and showers), water and power and preferably with greywater storage
do not require access to utilities or communal showers, toilets, kiosks or other amenities
generally provide a maximum stay of three to five nights
are managed by an on-site caretaker or host who oversees the facility (one site with access to power)
include minor infrastructure
do not accommodate tents or other types of structures/accommodation other than self-contained RVs and caravans
Potential Redlands Coast sites for a basic camping ground are at:
Island St, Cleveland, adjoining Cleveland Bowls Club
Norm Price Park – Redland Showgrounds, 44 Smith Street, Cleveland
Raby Bay Boulevard Park, next to William Street boat ramp
594-596 Main Road, Wellington Point
Council is seeking expressions of interest in accordance with Section 228 of the Local Government Regulation 2012. Interested parties are invited to submit proposals, including but not limited to a preliminary business case, concept plan and demonstration of success in the design, management, operation and delivery of a similar facility.
If you are interested in submitting a proposal and would like a copy of the project brief, please contact the project manager at Redland City Council on 07 3829 8999 or civicandopenspace@redland.qld.gov.au
