May 2023 update

Recently the Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning advised Council that this amendment has been placed on hold pending completion of the Queensland Government’s Housing Supply and Diversity for Redland City.

On the 4 April, 2025, the Queensland Government formally Gazetted the 900 hectare area of the Southern Thornlands as a Priority Development Area. 

Future development of the area for up to 8,000 homes and 20,000 new residents will now be managed by Economic Development Queensland, (EDQ).
