September 2022 update
On 17 June 2022, the Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning (the department) issued Council with a Notice to request information and to pause a timeframe under the Minister’s Guidelines and Rules (MGR).

On the 4 April, 2025, the Queensland Government formally Gazetted the 900 hectare area of the Southern Thornlands as a Priority Development Area.
Future development of the area for up to 8,000 homes and 20,000 new residents will now be managed by Economic Development Queensland, (EDQ).
