16 September 2019 Update - Community Open House

On 14 September, 2019 more than 50 North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah) residents attended a Community Update Day organised by Redland City Council.

During the two hours of the event, residents were able to browse a series of information stands on island projects, speak with elected representatives and Council and State Government officers, raise questions – most of which were answered on the day – and gather information on projects of interest to them.

Government representatives: Mayor Karen Williams; Cr Peter Mitchell; Member for Redlands Kim Richards MP.

Council areas represented: Redlands Coast Tourism; Disaster Management and fire preparedness; Environment and Regulation; Open Spaces; Water and Waste; Amity SEMP; Customer Services; Redlands Coast IndigiScapes Centre.

State Government areas represented: Seqwater; Minjerribah Futures; Department of Employment, Small Business and Training; Department of Innovation, Tourism Industry Development and the Commonwealth Games; Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services.

University of Queensland was represented by an associate professor.

Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation provided five informative videos that played throughout the event.

Council fact sheets on Amity Point SEMP; Cylinder Beach Foreshore and Snapper Street pedestrian link; North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah) Park Projects and Point Lookout Sewerage Extension Project/Water Main Project were handed out on the day.
