28 November Update – Junner Street repair works to start

An issue raised by the community at the township meeting in August was the urgent need for repair of large potholes in Junner Street.

Council has received approval to do the work, a process that involved application for a Heritage Exemption Certificate from the Department of Environment and Science.

Council’s Roads, Drainage and Marine Group has programmed the works to commence on Wednesday 5th of December, 2018.

It is expected that works will take three days to complete, weather permitting.

Of importance to note is that these are interim works, and access after they are complete will be restricted to vehicles weighing no more than seven tonnes.

Final repair of the combined seawall and road pavement is scheduled for the 2021/22 financial year and is expected to cost $1.5m.
