10 September Update

Around 115 North Stradbroke Island residents attended a township information update meeting organised by Redland City Council at Dunwich on 18 August 2018.

Redland City Mayor Karen Williams and Cr Peter Mitchell took questions from the floor as well as those already emailed in. Other local elected representatives also answered questions including MPs Kim Richards, Don Brown and Mark Robinson. Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation (QYAC) CEO Cameron Costello and Jeff McAlister, Deputy Director-General, Department of Tourism, Major Events, Small Business and the Commonwealth Games also answered questions.

During the two-hour discussion there were a number of important matters and questions raised, many of which were answered on the day.

The meeting notes from the day are now available along with contact information for State and other agencies with responsibility for NSI projects and issues.

The next NSI Township Meeting is likely to occur in the new calendar year. Council is considering a slightly different format to more effectively work through all the topics.
