Community feedback informs Thorneside Foreshore Precinct Concept

Hundreds of residents, neighbours and visitors participated in the Thorneside Foreshore Precinct community engagement.

The project page had 790 visits, and 220 surveys were completed.

The primary purpose of the survey was to help Council understand what the community most loves and values about this unique foreshore area.

The community told us that more than anything else, they valued access to the recreational facilities the precinct offered, such as play spaces and picnic facilities.

The community also told us that the area’s natural values were highly regarded, with the next two most commonly cited values being access to natural foreshore areas and the ecological system, including the land, water, animals and plants.

These important community values have guided the concept plan for the Thorneside Foreshore Precinct.

The combined concept was also guided by other considerations and requirements, including visual impacts, operational, safety, accessibility and State and Federal agencies input and conditions.

All works remain subject to Council budget availability and approvals.
