Minjerribah/North Stradbroke Island - 8.55pm Passenger Ferry Service Trial Survey

Based on feedback from tourism operators on Minjerribah/North Stradbroke Island, there appears to be a lack of staff accommodation on the island, which understandably, is a growing issue and concern for many tourism businesses. In addition, through the many conversations with operators, it appears that across the island there is a challenge in attracting and retaining staff to cover peak period of trade particularly in the hospitality sector with chefs, sous chefs, kitchen and wait staff, as well as cleaning staff to support accommodation providers on the island – primarily because of the lack of available staff accommodation.

Council, in collaboration with the State Department of Tourism, Innovation and Sport and Brisbane Economic Development Agency is currently investigating potential options of an additional passenger ferry service departing the island at 8.55pm to trial during the Easter holiday season from 1 April 2021 to 3 May 2021 to support tourism businesses on the island. Passengers/Staff are expected to cover the cost of their fare.

To support this initiative, we require your input through this short survey.

Please complete by 4pm Friday 19 March 2021.

If you have any questions, or would like further information, please contact Council’s Tourism and Events Team either by email tourism@redland.qld.gov.au or phone 3829 8962.
