Tuna Court Park community garden application not approved
The proposal for a new community garden at Tuna Court Park, Thornlands, was put forward by the Bayside Community Garden Group (a local not-for-profit).
The proposal underwent community consultation between August and September 2019.
Community support was broad. However, several submissions raised the issue of street parking constraints, given the demand already generated by nearby Carmel College.
Council officers also received and assessed separate applications for Redland Bay and Cleveland community gardens.
With new community gardens established on Redlands Coast, Council has reviewed all existing and proposed community gardens.

With new community gardens established on Redlands Coast, Council has reviewed all existing and proposed community gardens.
The review included the process, resources and support required for these activities and concluded the Redland local government area (LGA) was well-serviced by community gardens compared to neighbouring LGAs. It found that support for establishing new community gardens in the city would be reduced.
The Tuna Court Park community garden application has since been decided and not approved.
