On 2 February 2022 Council entered into a licence to occupy agreement with Wynyard Street Community Garden, auspiced by Donald Simpson Community Centre, to create a community garden on land at 186-196 Bloomfield Street, Cleveland (the part of the land fronting Wynyard Street).
Council’s approval was informed by community engagement on the proposal and feedback from residents, neighbours and other community members.

Wynyard Street Community Garden group have gradually started establishing the garden, with soil improvement completed in May and a storage shed recently constructed. The group have begun to meet onsite Thursday mornings and welcomes other community members to join them – feel free to pop on down.

Neighbours, park users and anyone interested were invited to provide feedback on the community garden proposed for Donald Simpson Park, Wynyard Street in Cleveland.
Community consultation on the proposal by the Wynyard Street Community Garden Group in consultation with Redland City Council was held between Monday, November 4, 2019, and Monday, November 25, 2019.
