Next Stage of the project prepares for construction

Following the relocation of the Capalaba Library and Customer Service Centre to the new temporary location within Capalaba Central Shopping Centre, Council’s preferred development partner, Shayher Group are preparing for the delivery of Stage One of the Capalaba Revitalisation Project.

This exciting stage will include a new community centre with contemporary arts facilities and three levels of office space.

From late-February 2025 Shayher Group will begin the demolition of the old Council library and customer service building. The demolition process is expected to take approximately 6 months.

Safety fencing and signage will be installed to ensure pedestrian access from the bus interchange to Capalaba Central Shopping Centre will be maintained during the demolition and construction phases.

Council is working with subsidiary company Redland Investment Corporation (RIC) and preferred development partner Shayher Group to deliver the approved master-planned precinct.

The $250m project is set to transform the 1.55-hectare site behind Capalaba Central Shopping Centre into the urban heart of Capalaba.

The master plan for the site also includes enhancements to the entertainment and restaurant precinct, retail and mixed-use residential and commercial areas, and a community hall.
