Why are the services temporarily relocating to the shopping centre?

Temporarily relocating the Library and Customer Service Centre will provide the developer with a blank slate to commence works on the revitalisation project. These works are expected to commence in early 2025.

    When will the services move?

The library and service centre will continue to operate out of Capalaba Place in Noeleen Street until close of business on Friday, 1 November.

Both will reopen in Capalaba Central Shopping Centre on Monday 11 November, at the Woolworths end of the centre in the space previously occupied by Coles.

Will the services close during the relocation?

Both will reopen in Capalaba Central Shopping Centre on Monday 11 November, at the Woolworths end of the centre in the space previously occupied by Coles.

What services will be offered during the temporary closure?

    Library services

During the week that the Capalaba services will be closed, all other Redlands Coast libraries will be open as usual.

To support our Capalaba customers, the Mobile Library will be located near Capalaba Place on Saturday 2 November and again from Monday 4 to Saturday 9 November.

Customers are also encouraged to consider reserving library items for collection from the 24-7 Library Lockers located outside Cleveland Library.

    Customer services

Customer service teams will be available as usual at their locations in Cleveland and Victoria Point.

You can also contact Council via phone 3829 8999, email rcc@redland.qld.gov.au or by using our customer request form. For more ways to contact us, visit our Contact Us webpage.

During the closure, what will happen to my Capalaba Library book hold?

During the closure, the Mobile Library will have both Capalaba Library and Mobile Library customer holds.

Also, if you have a reservation ready to pick up from Capalaba Library or the Mobile Library between 2 to 10 November, it will be extended to 18 November.

Loans due that week will also be extended to 18 November, but inter-library loan periods remain the same due to other library services’ lending periods.

Will meeting rooms and public computers be available?

Two meeting rooms will be available in the temporary library for customer use via a booking system – more information coming soon. A number of public computers will also be available in the library.

    Where will toilets be located?

The shopping centre has two sets of toilets for customer use. Both are located within convenient walking distance of the temporary location.

Capalaba Central Shopping Centre has 1596 car spaces in total, including 471 undercover car parks, 413 shade sail car parks, 27 disability car parks (17 undercover), 29 seniors car parks (21 undercover, 8 under shade sail) and 12 parents car parks (6 undercover).

When work commences on the revitalisation project, there will be three entries to Capalaba Central Shopping Centre, all at the front of the centre – one at the Woolworths end, one in the middle, and one at the Big W end.

The entry at the Woolworths end will provide the closest access to the temporary library and customer service centre.
