Cascades Park in Victoria Point is due for an upgrade, identified in the Local Government Infrastructure Plan and categorised as a community-level park in Council's Open Space Strategy 2026.

The park renewal and upgrade project considers the use, functional requirements and integration of the recreation activities including BMX track and skatepark, new bike racks, pedestrian connectivity, paint and repair of the rotunda and upgrades to park furniture such as shelters, barbecues and seating.

In 2023, project planning commenced, with funding for the design of the youth spaces adopted in Council's 2025-2026 Budget.

In November 2024, due to ongoing significant water loss (losing 6000L of water/day despite numerous fixes) and to support Council’s sustainability and environmental standards, water to the water-feature was turned off, however the ‘feature’ component remains within the garden beds. At this time, the park name was changed from 'Cascades Gardens' to Cascades Park.

Skatepark and pump track

External skatepark design consultants Convic in collaboration with BMX design consultants Trailworx, were engaged to facilitate two rounds of workshops with the community for feedback on design of the proposed upgraded facilities.

Feedback from the pre-design workshops held in November 2025 included general agreement for the BMX area to become a pump track and for a street plaza style to be adopted for the skatepark.

Concept design consultation

Convic has now developed a concept design for a proposed 350m2 asphalt pump track complemented by a 300m2 street-style skate path.

The concept design was taken to the community for consultation at two workshops in February 2026.

Overall, the community response was supportive of the proposed design with the street-style skatepark concept well received, particularly the proposed granite kerb. Workshop participants also expressed a desire for additional transition elements for the skatepark including a starting bank, a quarter-pipe pocket or a funbox-style element.

Initial concept designs presented at the February 2026 community workshops are available for you to see on this page.

Workshop feedback

The discussion with community was very positive with valuable feedback received for refining the initial concept design for both the skatepark and the pump track.

Key themes discussed at the workshops in February were a strong preference from the community for more advanced jumps within the pump track as well as additional beginner-friendly and varied obstacles within the current concept design for the skatepark.

In response to this community feedback, Convic are now investigating the proposed adjustments to both the skatepark and pump track subject to budget and site limitations.

Final concept design for the skatepark and pump track are expected to be available for you to view on this site towards the end of May 2026.
