Council's Community Engagement Framework
Consultation has concluded
Redland City Council has contracted community engagement consultant Articulous to develop a contemporary and practical community engagement framework to inform officers and the Redlands Coast community of the purpose, practice, and use of engagement by Council.
Council is seeking feedback from Friday 9 August to Sunday 25 August to understand the community's thoughts and views on the proposed engagement principles and what the framework should look like.
An operational document, the framework will outline how Council determines how and when it will engage with the community and the principles of Council engagement and provide an understanding of the relevance and limitations of engagement.
The document will also:
- highlight how Council can use different engagement methodologies to inform stakeholders and capture their input to help solve a problem or make a decision about a project or service
- introduce the levels of engagement as identified by the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2), an international organisation promoting community engagement globally through targeted initiatives guided by culturally adaptive standards of practice and core values.
In May and June 2024, Council held external and internal consultation exercises and workshops with several stakeholder groups, including community groups, the youth and disability sectors, Council officers and executives, and Councillors. During these consultation activities, a set of key engagement principles were identified that reflect the values of Redlands Coast residents and community groups.
