Petition Request:

The Council to take immediate action to provide the full financial modelling for the proposed White Water Rafting facility pre - 2032 and in post 2032 legacy mode.

Petition Response:

The petition was presented by Cr Paul Bishop at the General meeting held on Wednesday 21 May 2025. The matter was defined as operational in nature and referred to the Chief Executive Officer for consideration.

Council investigated the petition request and provided a response to the Principal Petitioner on 4 June 2025 as follows:

The Redland Whitewater Centre is a Queensland Government project which will be funded by the Queensland and Australian governments.

The Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority’s Project Validation Report (PVR) process – or business case – on the Redland Whitewater Centre is in progress and, upon completion, will be considered by the Australian and Queensland governments for an investment decision. As the reports are finalised, summaries of completed PVRs or Business Cases for sport venues will be available for everyone to view at https://giica.au/about/venues-and-villages.

For awareness, a report will also be brought to a future General Meeting regarding Birkdale Community Precinct in response to a Notion of Motion by Councillor Bishop from the April 2025 General Meeting to provide clarity and assurance on matters including financial planning and legacy.
