Petition Request:
The residents of Grosvenor Park Estate and the surrounding area do not approve of the proposed development at 5-23 Lind street Thornlands Qld 4164 unless the correct zoning of 2000 sqm lots are adhered with and the appropriate infrastructure is provided. The proposed application is inconsistent with the neighbourhood scale and character guidelines, street traffic is already heavy and parking is tight. Adding 40 inconsistent lots to current zoning will add an extra 100 cars, unreasonably worsening traffic onto an already heavily congested Ziegenfusz road. The lot currently sustains several mature habitat trees that should be preserved because their loss would take several decades to mitigate and the applicant has already commenced destroying trees in an environmentally sensitive area. Redland City Council is not required to approve an application simply because it meets technical requirements when it is demonstrated that its fulfilment will unreasonably diminish the quality of life in the neighbourhood. Further, the 'affordable housing' loophole should not be utilized to profit the developers to the detriment of existing residents who have made considerable investments into their homes. Any development should enhance residents lives, not merely the developers wallet. This application falls short of Redland City Council's mantra of supporting the community.
