Request to Council: Upgrading the Karragarra Island Playground 

We, the undersigned residents and visitors, respectfully request that Council consider the development of a new, modern playground on Karragarra Island. Our community is growing rapidly, with many young families choosing to make the island their home. In addition, Karra attracts countless visiting families from neighbouring islands and the mainland, who come to enjoy our natural surroundings and community spaces. 

The existing playground is outdated and limited in both safety and accessibility. It no longer meets the needs of our children or reflects the high standards of other nearby recreation areas. 

A modern, inclusive playground would provide a safe, stimulating environment for children of all ages and abilities to play, learn, and connect. An upgraded facility would also serve as a valuable community hub, encouraging outdoor activity, social interaction, and a stronger sense of belonging among residents and visitors alike. Improved play infrastructure would enhance the island’s appeal as a family-friendly destination, supporting local tourism and the wellbeing of our growing population. 

We ask Council to prioritise the planning and funding of this project, ideally in consultation with the community, to ensure the new playground is safe, sustainable, and reflective of Karragarra Island’s unique environment and the Bay’s community spirit. Together, we can create a vibrant space where children can thrive and families can connect for generations to come.
