Request for Time Limited No-Stopping Zones on Trout Street, Trevally Court and Trochus Court, Thornlands to Improve Traffic Safety During Peak Hours

Petition Request:

This request is for a change of parking rules for Trout Street, Trevally Court & Trochus Ct Thornlands for one side of each street to be listed as ‘No Stopping’ Monday to Friday 7:30am-8:30am & 2:30pm-3:30pm. This request is made due to the traffic congestions caused by parking from students at the nearby high school and parents picking up children from both the school and nearby childcare centre. The restricted passageway accompanied by inexperienced drivers and a high foot traffic from two schools egressing in close intervals causes a high likelihood of serious injury to drivers and pedestrians. Recent traffic crashes occurring at the location have so far only resulted in damage to property and motor vehicles. By restricting one side of each street, students will still have ample parking in close proximity to the school but would create a reduction in the volume of closely parked vehicles, ideally resulting in a reduced likelihood of traffic crashes occurring.

Council will respond to Principal Petitioner regarding the outcome of the petition within 10 business days of the meeting at which the petition is presented.
