Request for Road Access to Cleveland-Redland Bay Road, Thornlands - Paper Petition 28 signatures
Principal Petitioner: Dean Halhead
Petition Request:
Request Council grants access from 314-318 Cleveland-Redland Bay Road for new development that is being undertaken in Arctic Street, Thornlands. This new development will have extra 30+ cars added to the street. We are concerned for the safety of our already crowded street, esp the access of emergency vehicles.
Petition Response:
Council resolved that the matter for road access is within the scope of the Queensland State Government’s Department of Transport and Main Roads. Cleveland Redland Bay Road is State-controlled Road corridor and is not with the jurisdiction of Redland City Council.
Further, the impact of the development at 314-318 Cleveland Redland Bay Road, Thornlands was considered through the development process under the Planning Act 2016. The impact to Artic Street was considered by Council as assessment manager and determined to be suitable in the context of City Plan. As part of the development application process the State Assessment Referral Agency (SARA) did direct Council to restrict vehicle access to Cleveland Redland Bay Road.
