Installation of Concrete Footpath at Sunrise Court Easement, Mount Cotton

Petition Request:

We, the undersigned, call on Redland City Council to install a concrete footpath along the easement at the end of Sunrise Court (Sunrise Street), Mount Cotton, to provide a safe and accessible connection for residents to Mount Cotton’s walking tracks and nearby public spaces. This missing link currently limits safe access for pedestrians and active transport users travelling between Sunrise Street, Homestead Place and the surrounding recreational areas, including Mount Cotton Park, local walking tracks and nearby public transport connections. The installation of a concrete footpath would:

* Improve safety and accessibility for residents, including families with young children, students and elderly residents;

* Provide a safer connection for pedestrians accessing nearby bus stops and local walking networks;

* Support active transport users, including walkers, runners, cyclists and scooter riders;

* Enhance connectivity between existing pathways and public recreational spaces;

* Encourage healthier, more active lifestyles within the community; and

* Improve the overall accessibility and usability of this important local easement.

Residents regularly use this area to access nearby parks, tracks and public transport, however the absence of a formal footpath creates safety concerns, particularly during wet weather and periods of low visibility. Delivering this missing section of pathway infrastructure would significantly improve pedestrian safety, accessibility and community connectivity for Mount Cotton residents and visitors alike. We respectfully request Redland City Council prioritise the installation of this footpath as part of its future infrastructure and active transport planning.

Council will respond to the Principal Petitioner regarding the outcome of the petition within 10 business days of the meeting at which the petition is presented.
