Redland City Plan Amendments
Redland City Plan is an important document that guides growth, land use and development in our city.
Council is committed to ensuring Redland City Plan remains consistent and relevant in response to changing legislation and community needs.
Maintaining the currency and relevance of the Redland City Plan is achieved through an ongoing program of feedback, review and amendments as regulated by the Planning Act 2016.
Amendments may involve a change to a planning scheme map (for example a zone change), a change to the written part of the scheme, or both and, depending on the type of amendment proposed, each amendment will follow a process set by the State Government.

Below is a list of amendments to the City Plan that are currently being drafted, amendments that are open for public comment, amendments that are being finalised and amendments that have been adopted and have commenced.

05/19 - Major Amendment (South West Victoria Point Local Plan) | To incorporate the South West Victoria Point Local Plan | Final State approval to proceed to public consultation on the major amendment was received in August 2022 following a three-year State Interest review process. 02/20 - Major Amendment - General | To make multiple amendments, including zone changes | Proposed amendment submitted to State Government in February 2022 for State Interest Review. Council responded to the request for further information/changes in December 2022. Council also requested that any outstanding matters are addressed through Ministerial Conditions. 04/20 - Major Amendment - Medium Density Residential Code Review | Encouraging well-designed multiple-dwelling housing (apartments and townhouses) across the city | Lodged for final Ministerial approval following completion of public consultation - January 2022. 02/21 - Major Amendment - (Southern Thornlands Potential Future Growth Area (STPFGA)) | To reflect the preferred future land use intents for the STPFGA | Lodged for State Interest Review - January 2022. 03/21 – Major Amendment – Minjerribah (site-specific land uses) | To incorporate Temporary Local Planning Instrument (TLPI) No. 1 of 2022 (Quandamooka Land Aspirations Area) into the City Plan | Following public consultation, in September 2022, the amendment was paused for 90 business days to allow further information supporting the proposed zone changes to be provided by the State. The State advised they need additional time to respond to the pause notice. The amendment commenced on 5 October 2022. The purpose and general effect of the amendment was to include the nominated heritage places into Schedule 7 – Heritage Schedule of City Plan.
