Council adopts package of amendments to City Plan
On 29 January 2020 Council resolved to adopt a package of amendments to City Plan and to commence the amendments on Wednesday 19 February 2020.
The amendments formally become part of the City Pan requirements and provisions from that date. The final amendment package includes twenty-two changes to the planning scheme.
The process for developing and approving amendments is outlined under the Minister’s Guidelines and Rules (MGR) under State planning legislation.
This process involves ministerial approval to proceed; a review by the state of its interests in the amendments (State Interest Review); and public consultation before resubmission to the Minister for approval to adopt.
Council first agreed to present a package of proposed amendments to the Minister for State Interest Review at the General Meeting of 10 October 2018.
The State review was finalised on 12 June 2019, with the Minister agreeing that the proposed amendment may proceed to public consultation, subject to two conditions which the Council agreed to on 17 July 2019.
The advertised public consultation occurred from 1 to 29 August 2019.
On 23 October 2019, Council resolved to distribute the public consultation report and submit the changed amendment package back to the Minister, seeking final approval to adopt the amendment package.
The Minister formally advised Council on 12 December 2019, that it may proceed to adopt the proposed amendments, which Council has now done.
Details on the amendments are outlined in the 29 January 2020 Council report (item 14.4).
The latest version of City Plan (Version 4), which includes the amendments, is available on Council's website.
