Birkdale’s WW11 radio receiving station listed on Queensland Heritage Register
The former United States Army radio receiving station, at Birkdale, has been entered into the Queensland Heritage Register by the Queensland Heritage Council (QHC) at its meeting on 26 June 2020.
The receiving station is located on a portion of the 61.78 hectares site in Birkdale, acquired by Council in 2019.
Council will now progress with finalising a heritage management plan, in addition to other studies and assessments for the property. This work will help to inform planning, and public consultation on the future uses of the site.
