Consultation has concluded

Did you know there are at least 48 known weed species on Coochiemudlo Island, including some that pose a significant environmental and management challenge?

We're asking residents and property owners of Coochiemudlo Island to help us review weed issues and contribute ideas towards a sustainable Weed Management Plan.

Along with a 2017 survey inviting islanders to submit their ideas on island values, weed impacts and weed management , Council has commissioned an independent consultant and weed expert to look at the issues, surveying island weed issues, and share ideas on weed management practice and options through engagement with residents on the island at a community workshop held on 10 June 2017.

The workshop, attended by over 50 island residents, included a presentation on weed management and discussion of island weed issues.

Following feedback and expert research, work has now begun on the development of a draft weed management strategy for the island that will help ensure island values are respected and improved and maintained for future generations.
