FAQ
What work is being done?
A
new sewer pipeline is being installed to replace existing pipework. The project
will involve the supply and installation of a sewer rising main, a small
section of gravity sewer main, manholes and associated works. These works will use both open trenching and
tunnel boring construction methods.
Why is this work required?
The
existing pipework has reached the end of its useful life, and requires
replacement to reduce the risk of failures.
When will the work start and how long will it take?
Preliminary work will begin from 6 January 2020 and works are scheduled for completion by April 2020, weather permitting.
Will there be night-time works?
Night works are not planned to be undertaken during this project. Intended working hours are 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.
Will there be weekend works?
Weekend works are not planned to be undertaken during this project.
Will there be any road closures, and if so what detours will be in place?
Traffic detours will be in place during works hours (8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday) for west bound traffic travelling between Denham Boulevard and Cypress Street. The signed detour will be in place diverting traffic via Queens and Bedarra streets. Outside of works hours the traffic detour will not be in effect.
What impact will traffic detours have on my street?
During the works hours, a signed detour will be in place diverting traffic via Queen Street and Bedarra streets. These streets will see temporary increases in traffic. Some traffic may choose to use other alternate roads during the works also.
Will pedestrian access down School of Arts Road be maintained during the works?
Pedestrian access along School of Arts Road will be maintained during the works hours. At times, there may be temporary pedestrian detours to the footpath on the opposite side of the road.

No, these bus stops will not be in use during the works. Translink will erect signage at these bus stops advising of alternate bus stops to use. There are alternate bus stops within 400m of those that will be out of use.
Will I be able to access my property during the works?
Yes. Access to properties will not be prevented during the works.
Will I be able to access the playing fields and shops on School of Arts Road during the works?
Yes. The works will not limit access to the shops or affect the use of the Donald Road Sportsfield.
Will the work create noise or dust?
There will be heavy machinery operating during the works hours of 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, and reversing beepers will also be audible. Water carts will be in use to control dust when required.
Will my water be disconnected during works?
There are no intentions to interrupt any water services during the works. If this is required, all efforts will be made to contact those affected in advance and any interruptions will be minimised.
Will I be able to use my toilet, kitchen and laundry during the works?
