Council has formally advised the Planning Minister of its decision on 16 September 2020 to consult the Redlands Coast community on future land-use proposals for Southern Thornlands Potential Future Growth Area (STPFGA).

The information on this page is designed to help inform and assist the community in making submissions on the proposed future land uses for this area during the public consultation period from 28 September 2020 to 20 November 2020.

Under the South East Queensland Regional Plan (ShapingSEQ), Council is required to investigate this area to determine its appropriate use, including its potential as a future employment area.

Given the STPFGA’s strategic location in the centre of the city and the long planning history of the area, Council believes it is essential to invite the community to comment on the future land-use proposals.

Submissions received will be used to inform the preparation of a potential future major amendment to City Plan and the ShapingSEQ regional plan.

This consultation is the first stage of the process.

A second phase of public consultation activities may occur if Council decides to make a major amendment to City Plan. This would occur after the proposed amendment has been approved by the Planning Minister following the State Interest Review period.

This process will be undertaken in accordance with the Minister’s Guidelines and Rules.

The proposed future land use intents for the STPFGA area are of importance to all of the Redlands Coast community.

With more than half of the city’s workers leaving the city each day for work, before COVID -19, the proposed land uses align with Council’s goal to deliver local employment opportunities and economic growth.

Please explore the resources and information available on these pages.

Submissions can be made before the close of business on 20 November 2020 by using the submission form below.
